Accommodation

We have 29 single rooms, the majority of which have en-suite facilities, some with showers. All rooms have their own wash hand basin. Each room is tastefully furnished, has an emergency call system, a television and most have telephone points. Residents are encouraged to bring small personal belongings to individualise their rooms.

In addition to the bedrooms, The Chestnuts has a large lounge and activity area. These overlook the extensive rear garden which is accessible through patio doors from both areas. We have a well stocked library and the books are updated regularly.

We also have a dining room, hairdressing room, 2 assisted bathrooms each with a bath hoist for residents who require assistance. On the first floor there is a second quiet sitting area with tea and coffee making facilities available for visitors. Nearby there is a computer with internet access where residents can keep in touch with family and friends whenever they wish.

The garden has a large patio area with raised flower beds that enables residents who enjoy gardening to remain green fingered. There is also a sensory garden where people can sit quietly and enjoy their surroundings as well as a wild garden that attracts butterflies, bees and birds. Our newest addition to the garden is a summer log cabin “Conkers” which supports our weekly visiting from relatives.

Food

We provide a varied menu with choices offered at every meal. All dietary needs are catered for whether for health, medical or religious reasons. All our meals are well presented and nutritionally balanced.

Alongside the regular meals, we also provide snacks and drinks throughout the day. For those residents who wish to remain more independent, there are tea and coffee making facilities for them to use as well as snacks available at all times.

Visitors are welcome to eat with their family member but where possible we do ask that you give us notice for catering purposes.

Laundry

Laundry is collected on a daily basis and usually returned within 24–hours. We ask that all residents use our labelling system which does incur a small cost but helps to eliminate items being returned incorrectly. We use specialist laundry products to ensure that germs including MRSA are eliminated.

Shopping

We keep a regular stock of items such as toiletries, sweets, puzzle books and greeting cards for residents to purchase if they wish. Our activities person will also take individual people shopping if they need to purchase further items that are not available and for those less able residents, items can be purchased on their behalf if this is easier .
