Therapy Pony – June 2017
/Tere the therapy pony came to visit the Chestnuts! Residents enjoyed stroking and petting her!
On Thursday 28th July Lilian and Joan visited the Ellenor Hospice in Northfleet to hand over the money raised for them at our recent garden party. We were able to donate £216, the money was raised from our raffle which as always was generously supported by the residents, their family and friends.
On June 14th, yet another rainy day in June, we dressed up for our boat trip from Wateringbury. Our journey to the boat was dismal with strong winds and rain, however by the time we boarded and were ready to set sail the weather improved and the sun came out. We had a lovely couple of hours travelling along the Medway, enjoying the scenery on the way. We cannot wait to do the trip again next year.
On Friday the 10th June, The Chestnuts became red, white and blue to celebrate the Queen's 90th Birthday. We had our very own street party (indoors sadly) with delicious home made sandwiches, cake and scones. The table was decorated accordingly with the table decorations made by the residents. It was a lovely afternoon and talked about for days afterwards.
On Thursday 17th March 2016 we were very proud to hold a party for Jack Roots to celebrate him being presented with the Legion d'honneur by the Mayor of Gravesham Cllr Mick Wenban. This medal is Frances highest honour and was awarded to Jack for his part in towing a floating harbour to Normandy's worn torn coast on D-Day. The Legion of Honour medal was established by Napoleon Bonaparte in 1802 as Frances highest award. Jack was surrounded by family and friends for what was a very emotional occasion.
