Our activities coordinator Tamla is always arranging parties, get togethers and activities for the residents, therefore we thought it would be nice to organise a small party for her birthday! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TAMLA! Thank you for all you have done through lockdown to keep the residents spirits up and always being cheerful!
Thank you to all residents, relatives and local community donating treats for our staff members. They have worked so hard throughout the pandemic and are a credit to the home.
Tamla arranged a beautiful display for remembrance day. She asked residents to bring down photos they had and memories of loved ones. The beautiful knitted poppy’s in the middle make it extra special.
On Thursday 5th November we celebrated Lilian’s 90th birthday with an afternoon tea party! Enjoyed by all residents that came! Lilian has been at the chestnuts for over 6 years
Jane one of carers did a spooky Halloween display for us! This included pumpkins that we had picked from a pumpkin farm! The residents also enjoyed a Halloween themed tea!
On Friday 24th July Tamla put on an afternoon tea and music afternoon! All residents that joined enjoyed a sing along and enjoyed Tamla’s yummy cakes and treats!
On Friday 26th June we enjoyed a lunchtime BBQ in the garden! On the menu was sausages, burgers and chicken kebabs! It was also Dev’s birthday which we all celebrated!
All the residents had a wonderful day celebrating VE day. Lots of stories being told and an enjoyable afternoon of music, food and drink!
Thank you to Gravesham’s Finest Ice Cream for bringing the residents and staff all a delicious ice cream as a teat! Enjoyed by all!
Lilian and Ena have been busy knitting yellow poppies for our carers and blue poppies for the NHS, as you can see from the photo the staff at DVH have been wearing them with pride. #ThankyoutotheNHS
On Thursday 23rd April 2020 we enjoyed celebrating Dt Georges Day! Tamla put on a lovely spread and the residents enjoyed eating cake and sharing stories!
Tamla spent time with all the residents writing messages to their friends, families and loved ones! Everyone is missing their families and friends and Tamla thought this would be a nice way of letting them know how much they are being missed.

Tilly the cocker spaniel came to visit us at the home! Tilly is a therapy dog who visits care homes. She is such a lovely dog and all the residents enjoyed having her here!
Happy Christmas to all! All the residents had a lovely Christmas and as usual staff where excellent and cooked a yummy Christmas lunch!
Lilian has been knitting for the blind people who live in Palestine. This will be posted out to them once she has finished!

Hennessy the miniature pony came to visit the Chestnuts! He came in with owner and went round to all the residents!
All residents loved him being in the home and we will be sure to have him back in!
Our lovely members of staff arranged and cooked for our residents and they enjoyed an afternoon of Indian music and tasting different food.
A special thanks is to Bali, Kuljit, Suki and Dev who provided the food and entertainment!

On Friday 4th October we welcomed students from Chantry Primary School to the home.
They came in to read to the residents and will be back in the future to join in with crafts and singing.
Our residents have also been invited to join them at their school for concerts!
We have found that inviting school and children in really benefits our residents and they all had an enjoyable morning!
On Friday 20th September we set off in our mini bus to Wateringbury for our 3rd boat trip of the year!
The sun was shining and we enjoyed the sides of the boat down whilst cruising along the river and drinking tea and eating home made cakes”
